Thirteen years of annual land-use and building change detection
Terravek's second-oldest continuous customer relationship, running annually since 2012.
The challenge
The province needed to maintain a current picture of land use and built development across 3,400 km², reconciled against permitting records.
What we did
An annual ORBIS change detection programme at 25 m² minimum mapping unit, delivered as a reconciled change layer against the previous year and against the permit register.
Results
- Thirteen consecutive comparable annual datasets
- Unpermitted development identified for investigation at 25 m² sensitivity
- Land-use statistics maintained annually rather than by periodic campaign
The value is not any single year. It is that thirteen of them are comparable.
