Terravek AGRISENSE

Field-level agronomy from orbit and ground.

AGRISENSE product illustration

AGRISENSE delivers crop stress, biomass, nitrogen status and yield forecasting at field and sub-field resolution, for cooperatives, agri-businesses and smallholder programmes.

AGRISENSE started as a hyperspectral research project and became a product when the Coopérative Agricole du Lauragais asked whether the nitrogen-stress model could run across 1,900 member fields rather than four research plots.

It now runs at two very different scales. In Europe it supports variable-rate application planning for large cooperatives. In East Africa it supports smallholder advisory programmes where the delivery mechanism is an SMS in Swahili, not a shapefile.

The nitrogen model is validated against field sampling every season at the Vollenhove range and, since 2023, at Rift Valley Agricultural College. Terravek publishes the validation results whether or not they are flattering.

Capabilities

Crop stress indices

Water, nitrogen and disease stress at 3–10 m resolution.

Biomass and LAI

Time-series biomass accumulation and leaf area index.

Nitrogen recommendation

Variable-rate nitrogen maps calibrated per crop and region.

Yield forecasting

Field-level yield forecast updated through the season.

Smallholder mode

Aggregated advisories delivered by SMS and voice in local languages.

FIELDKIT integration

Soil moisture and temperature nodes anchor the satellite signal.

Limitations

We state these on the product page rather than in a footnote during procurement. The sales cycle is eleven months and the truth surfaces anyway.

  • Nitrogen recommendations are calibrated per crop and region; using them outside a calibrated region produces relative stress mapping only, not an application rate.
  • Fields smaller than 0.2 ha are reported at aggregate level in the open-archive tier.
  • Yield forecasting requires at least one prior season of ground-truth yield data for the region.
