Terravek maintains a permanent calibration range at Vollenhove Polder: a reflector array, a set of characterised surfaces and forty-two in-situ FIELDKIT nodes. Field campaigns run in March, June and September.
People are sometimes surprised that a company selling analytics owns a field. The reason is traceability. Every radiometric claim Terravek makes ultimately resolves to a measurement made against a reference whose own uncertainty is known. Without that chain, 'reflectance' is a number a sensor produced, not a property of the ground.
The range has been running since 2014, which means we have eleven years of consistent reference measurements. That is what allows us to say whether a difference between a 2016 scene and a 2025 scene is a change in the world or a change in our instruments.
It is also what allows us to detect drift in partner sensors, occasionally before the operator does. Those conversations are handled quietly and have made us some good friends.
