Our hiring process
Every stage, what it is for, and how long it takes.
Four stages for most roles, five for senior ones. Median time from application to offer is 24 days. If we are going to be slower than that we tell you why.
Stage 1 — Application review
A human reads it. We do not run CV-screening automation and we do not require a covering letter of a specific length. Response within five working days, including if the answer is no.
A rejection at this stage gets a reason, briefly. It will not be a detailed critique — at volume that is not possible — but it will not be a template either.
Stage 2 — Conversation with the hiring manager (45 minutes)
Not a screening call with a recruiter. The person you would report to, discussing what the job actually is. You should use it to interrogate the role; candidates who do consistently make better decisions about whether to continue.
Stage 3 — Technical or practical assessment
Varies by function and is described to you in advance, including what we are assessing.
- Engineering: a two-hour pairing session on a real, bounded problem from our own backlog. Not an algorithm puzzle. You may use any documentation and any tool you would normally use.
- Security: an investigation exercise using synthetic telemetry, followed by writing it up — the writing matters as much as the finding.
- Data science: a modelling exercise with a deliberately flawed dataset. What we assess is whether you notice.
- Commercial: a structured discussion of a real deal shape, not a role-play.
We do not set unpaid take-home exercises longer than two hours. Where a longer piece of work is genuinely needed, it is paid at a day rate.
Stage 4 — Team conversation (60 minutes)
Two or three people you would work with, at least one of whom is not in your reporting line. They have a veto and they know it. This stage is where we find the mismatches that a manager conversation does not.
Stage 5 — Executive conversation (senior roles only)
For director level and above, a conversation with the relevant Executive Board member.
Offer
Made verbally within two working days of the final stage, confirmed in writing within five. The salary offered will be within the published range. We do not make exploding offers and you get at least two weeks, or four for the graduate programme.
Adjustments
Tell us what you need at any stage and we will make it work — additional time, a different format, materials in advance, a quiet room, interview questions in writing beforehand. You do not have to disclose a reason. Contact careers@terravek.com or the recruiter named in your correspondence.
Recruitment agencies
Terravek does not accept unsolicited CVs from recruitment agencies. Sending one does not create a relationship, does not establish introduction rights, and will not result in a fee, regardless of any terms attached to your e-mail or footer.
We work with a small number of agencies under signed agreement, engaged per role by Emre Şahin. If you have not been engaged for a specific reference number, you have not been engaged.
Unsolicited CVs are deleted and the sender is added to our suppression list. We will not enter into correspondence about it.
